(BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn.)-- Passengers wanting to grab a bite to eat once they get to their gate can now enjoy a newly remodeled eating area and more food choices. Tailwind Express, located on the concourse level past the TSA security checkpoint, has officially reopened with a new look and a variety of menu items. The eatery is open from 5 a.m. until the last scheduled flight departs and offers oven toasted hot subs, hot prepared breakfast items, candy, snacks, soft drinks, beer and full bar service.
Passengers can also eat and relax at Tailwind Restaurant and Bar inside the Airport's main terminal area. The new restaurant opened in January 2008 and features hot breakfasts, appetizers, traditional grill items, wraps, salads, sandwiches, coffee, soft drinks, beer and full bar service. The bar area is furnished with a 46" HDTV and comfortable seating.
Tailwind Restaurant and Tailwind Express are operated by Alan Giaquinto from Wilmington, North Carolina. He has been in the airport food service business since 2001 with his first operation in the Pitkin County Airport in Aspen, Colorado. "Alan and the staff at Tailwind have made significant improvements in the Airport's food and beverage operation. The Airport Commission is pleased to be working with the professionals at Tailwind to provide such a high level of products and services to travelers in our region," said Patrick Wilson, TCRA executive director.
Giaquinto brought Tailwind to the Wilmington International Airport in January 2005 and operates two full service restaurants, two full service bars, the airport gift shop and gift kiosk in the gate area. "I am happy to be able to provide quality food and beverage service for passengers in the Tri-Cities Regional Airport and look forward to making a good first impression on visitors coming into this region," says Giaquinto.
