(Blountville, Tenn.)-- J. Parker Smith has been appointed to the Tri-Cities Airport Commission, filling the seat vacated by Kingsport Mayor, Dennis Phillips. He is one of three commissioners who represent Kingsport.
Smith is the Vice-President and General Manager of Worldwide Manufacturing and Support at Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport and has been employed there for 33 years. He has held leadership positions in many community organizations and is a member of the Kingsport Kiwanis Club, Kingsport Tomorrow Board of Directors, Kingsport Library Commission, Boy Scouts of America Sequoyah Council Board of Directors, and the United Way of Kingsport.
Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University. He and his wife, Kay Ann, live in Kingsport and have one son, Ross.
TCRA’s 12-member Airport Commission is made up of appointed representatives from the Airport’s city and county owners.
